The Wine Shoppe at Green Hills opened in June of 2000. The idea was to create an eclectic, small
volume wine store that Ed Fryer could work closely with both collectors and those just looking for
a great bottle of wine to go with pizza in a relaxed manner.
The plan failed miserably and we at The Wine Shoppe have never looked back.
Nashvillians embraced this tiny 1,600 square foot store and sales literally took off. As Ed likes
to refer to it "the customers run this place." The store features an amazing 3,500 wines and
about 1,000 more that collectors "grab before anyone else ever sees them." The insanity
works well and we work hard."
The Wine Shoppe's mission is simple...never suggest a bad wine. The store is tops in high-end
business but in September of 2006, Ed felt an urge to re-evaluate the business model and
a minor store redesign quickly added new shelving and racks to hold more wine. "I looked around
after a crazy July 4th week and realized we had about 20 wines under $20." Since then, we
have added hundreds of cool, fun value wines and it's been overwhelmingly popular."
This new high-speed website is in it's formative stages. Soon, it will feature some amazing
features that will take wine buying to an all new level in Nashville.
The month of June, 2007 sees another change in The Wine Shoppe as we plan a month of
celebrations and a bit of house cleaning. We are discontinuing about 500 wines from our
selection that "just don't make the cut." It's time to show Nashvillians that less is more and
staying in your budget doesn't mean you have to buy a boring bottle of wine.
Thank you for making The Wine Shoppe your number once shop to buy wine. We are honored
that we have been voted tops in the Nashville Scene reader's poll and called "the one shop
to see when you visit Nashville." It's all because of you and for you.
It's a passion, pride and pleasure to serve you! You are THE BEST!
